Carthage splits with Ozark, Willard

CARTHAGE – Ozark defeated Carthage 56–7 and Carthage downed Willard 51–27 in a Central Ozark Conference Large Schools Division double-dual on Tuesday.
For Carthage, 119-pounder Tommy Feagans and and 140-pounder Harold Cooper were two-time winners. Feagans, who is ranked third in Class 3 by MissouriWrestling.com, recorded a 14–5 major decision over Ozark’s Dmitry Loftis, who is ranked third at 112. Feagans is 16–1. Cooper improved to 13–10 by beating Ozark’s Levi Tucker 9–8 and posting a major decision over Willard’s Codey White.
A couple other premier matchups occured at 112 and 160. Ozark’s Colton Howell, ranked second at 103, moved up a weight class and beat Carthage’s Nate Kelly 12–4. Kelly is 15–4. At 160, Ozark’s Zeb Spicer, who is ranked second at 152, moved up to beat Carthage’s Seth Golay 3–2. Golay is 18–4.

Carthage falls to Neosho (Wrestling roundup)

CARTHAGE — Neosho downed Carthage 58–12 in a Central Ozark Conference Large Schools Division dual on Tuesday.
At 119 pounds, the Tigers’ Trevor Feagans won 4–3 over the Wildcats’ Trevor Hughes. Feagans, who improved to 24–1, is ranked third in Class 3 at 119 by MissouriWrestling.com. Hughes is ranked second.
At 112, Neosho’s Joe Barnes nipped Carthage’s Nate Kelly 2–1. Barnes is ranked fourth and Kelly, who is 21–6, seventh.
Carthage dual record is 3–6.

Neosho wins COC Large Schools Division title (Wrestling)

NIXA — Neosho had eight individual champions while rolling to the team championship at the Central Ozark Conference Large Schools Division Tournament on Saturday.
The Wildcats’ Blake Stauffer, ranked No. 1 in Class 3 at 171 pounds, improved to 43–0.

Trevor Feagans, ranked No. 1 at 119 pounds in Class 3 by MissouriWrestling.com, recorded a pair of pins while upping his record to 32–1.
The Tigers’ Gage Gartner (103 pounds), Nate Kelly (112) and Larry Swinehart (152) also all went 5–0.

SENECA — Seneca downed Carthage 52–16 on Thursday, but the Tigers’ Nate Kelly posted a win over Tate Smith, ranked No. 1 in Class 1 at 112 pounds.
Kelly, ranked fourth in Class 3, won by a major decision 13–0 to improve to 30–7.
Carthage freshman Trevor Feagans, ranked No. 1 in Class 3 at 119, upped his record to 34–1 by pinning Trevor Sill in 4:34.
Seneca is ranked No. 1 in Class 1.

COC to be represented at state by 17 district champs

The Central Ozark Large Schools Division is sending 56 state-qualifiers to the Class 3 State Wrestling Tournament this week in Columbia and the Small Schools Division will have 19 state-qualifiers at the Class 2 State Wrestling Tournament.
The COC Large Schools Division and Small Schools Division had a combined 17 district champions crowned this past weekend. Ozark, Willard and Bolivar all had three first-place finishers.
Ozark’s Chass 3 District 3 champs include 130-pound sophomore Colton Howell (44−1), 112-pound sophomore Dmitry Loftis (38−6) and 145-pound junior Trenton Patterson (34−8). The Tigers have a state-qualifier at all 14 weight classes.
Willard’s Class 3 District 3 champs are 152-pound senior Taylor Ball (27−3), 215-pound senior Joel Wyman (40−1) and 285-pound sophomore Christian Adams (30−9). The Tigers have five state-qualifiers.
Bolivar’s Class 2 District 3 champs are 119-pound senior Eric Hughes (38−1), 160-pound senior Joshua Moffett (42−6) and 171-pound senior Kyle Walker (32−10). The Liberators have five state-qualifiers.
Carthage has a pair of Class 3 District 4 champs, 112-pound junior Nate Kelly (35−7) and 119-pound freshman Tyler Feagans (39−1). The Tigers have four state-qualifiers.
Reeds Spring has two Class 2 District 3 champs, 135-pound sophomore Steven Morey (40−0) and 285-pound senior Kale Crosby (38−1). The Wolves have seven state-qualifiers.
Neosho has one Class 3 District 4 champ, 171-pound junior Blake Stauffer (48−1). The Wildcats have 13 state-qualifiers.
Rogersville has one Class 2 District 3 champ, 130-pound senior Sam Zimmer (44−2). He is a two-time state champion. The Wildcats have four state-qualifiers.

Five COC wrestlers crowned state champions

COLUMBIA — The Central Ozark Conference produced a handful of state champions, with Neosho having a trio of champs, at the MSHSAA State Wrestling Tournament on Saturday.
Class 3 featured a pair of All-COC finals.
At 112, Neosho’s Joe Barnes edged Carthage’s Nate Kelley 3–1. Barnes finishes with a 43–7 record. At 119, Neosho’s Trevor Hughes downed Carthage’s Trevor Feagans 5–1. Hughes ends with a 36–6 mark.
Ozark’s Dylan May claimed the 135-pound title by pinning Kearney’s Tanner Minder in 4:55. May finishes with a 30–4 record. Neosho’s Blake Stauffer was a dominating 171-pound state champion. His closest match at state was an 11–4 victory. Staffer ends with a 52–1 mark.
Class 3 state runners-up included Neosho 103-pounder Nate Rodriguez (48−6), Neosho 130-pounder Jared Brock (30−10), Ozark 152-pounder Zeb Spicer (38−7) and Willard 215-pounder Joel Wyman (43−2).
In Class 2, Rogersville senior Sam Zimmer three-peated as a state champion en route to winning the 130-pound title. He scored a 3–1 decision over Pleasant Hill’s Joshua Hastings in the final to up his record to 46–2.
Class 2 state runners-up were Bolivar 119-pounder Eric Hughes (41−2) and Reeds Spring 135-pounder Steven Morey (43−1).
